Our story

Our chef Marie grew up in Provence, France. Her family have been farmers for generations, producing olive oil, fruits and vegetables.

Her mother and grandmother nurtured her passion for cooking from a young age as both cooked wonderfully. Growing up on the farm meant that she always had access to the freshest, tastiest produce.

Marie found her way to London and spent time working in various London restaurants but knew she wanted to have her own place serving simple, fresh food cooked and produced with love.

Merci Marie, a hidden gem in Dalston opened in 2013. The atmosphere was intimate yet relaxed and had the feel of going to eat at a good friend’s place.

After 6 wonderful years at Merci Marie and since starting a family, Marie has been offering a catering service so she can combine family life and her love of cooking. Catering for any special celebration or corporate event, offering beautiful seasonal menus, designed for sharing.

After 2020 really challenged the world of catering, events and eating out, Marie partnered up with sister in law Hannah who has extensive experience of marketing, brand experience and operations to launch Merci Marie at home.

We wanted to bring Marie’s home cooked, French comfort food with a twist for you to enjoy at home, whilst balancing our work life around our young families and the new normal. The menu changes regularly and there are always extra treats on offer - the vanilla custard doughnuts or caramel choux buns to mention just a couple…
